Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is an affordable smartphone that punches way beyond its weight class. It boasts a fully reversible screen (there is no right side up), sizeable battery and 16 GB of internal space plus the option to add removable storage with a microSD card.

The Idol 3 lets you choose your preferred screen size, too. Alcatel has developed a 4.7 inch model and a 5.5 inch model with similar specs, giving you the option to pick the display that fits you (and your hand) best.

If you’d like to learn more about this overachiever, we spent a month with the Idol 3 and shared our thoughts. Both models are also available for purchase in the Ting shop (GSM only).

To celebrate the launch of our unboxing, Ting is giving away two brand new Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3s on the Ting YouTube channel.

Congrats to the lucky winners, Frankie and Shawzy.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Samsung Galaxy S7

s7black_social

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has improved on a tried and true formula to offer its best smartphone yet. Latest updates include a brand new camera, improved Snapdragon system chip, removable storage and a waterproof shell – no charging port cover required.

If you consider a 5 inch display to be the perfect phone size, you’ll love the Galaxy S7. Its 5.1 inch Quad HD display with 576 pixels per inch is fantastic, enclosed in rounded black glass and an aluminum frame that feels as exceptional as it looks.

Running the latest version of Android, 6.0 Marshmallow with a 3,000 mAh battery inside, the Galaxy S7 provides buttery smooth performance that’ll last a full day with ease.

Take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 in our unboxing below and through the Ting shop listing, currently available for purchase on the Ting CDMA (Sprint) network.

Ting is also giving away two brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones! One giveaway is being hosted on the Ting Facebook page while the second is through our friends at Android Police. Learn more and enter to win on the respective pages.

Congrats to Patrick G, our lucky Facebook winner.

My month with the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3

More and more often, manufacturers are releasing budget devices that punch way above their weight class. The latest smartphone from Alcatel, the OneTouch Idol 3, packs quality hardware and handy features in an inexpensive package. The Idol 3 comes in two sizes: 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, which both use the exact same physical build, identical software and offer similar performance. Over the past month, I had the chance to take the larger Idol 3 (5.5) for a spin. I don’t mean figuratively either – the OneTouch Idol 3 comes with a fully reversible screen that was a lot more convenient than I had ever expected.

One interesting thing I noticed was that the more I used it, the more I liked it. Due to its price tag, I assumed the Idol 3 would be another generic phone that delivered substandard performance, but was pleasantly surprised to be completely wrong. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is not the most powerful phone in existence, but it worked well for me and includes some useful additions to help it stand out from the pack.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Galaxy Note 5

The Galaxy Note series have been the kings of phablet territory ever since the “bigger is better” trend began.

While it’s always been a powerful beast, Samsung has built the latest iteration with style in mind. Thinner and sleeker than last year’s model, the dual-edge glass back makes it a beautiful sight to behold…and actually hold, too.

The Galaxy Note 5 is a premium Android smartphone, both inside and out. With an excellent 16 megapixel camera, 4K smartphone display, 4 GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Note 5 offers the complete package.

Compared to its predecessor, pretty much everything inside the Note 5 has been improved and refined. If you’re a fan of the smartphone stylus, this year’s S Pen clicks like never before. We’ve also found the new “Screen off memo” feature to be super handy – it transforms your display into a chalkboard when the display’s off, great for doodling or quick notes when you’re on the go.

Take a further look at the Note 5 in the Ting shop listing. It’s ready for use on both Ting nationwide network offerings, CDMA and GSM.

Ting is also giving away a brand new Galaxy Note 5 on the Ting YouTube channel. Giveaway details are listed below – good luck.

Congrats to our lucky winners on YouTube and Facebook.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: OnePlus 2

The OnePlus 2 does things on its own terms.

Like its predecessor, it gets ahead of the curve to stand out from the crowd.

Big upgrades like the new USB-C standard charger, fingerprint reader, improved camera and a dual-SIM design have been added to the OnePlus 2. Its 5.5-inch 1080p display with a 1.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor is impressive as well. With 4 GB of RAM, it can multitask like a boss and handle anything you throw its way. Plus, with a massive 3300 mAh battery inside, a full day of heavy use is no sweat for the OnePlus 2.

If you’d like a flagship phone without the flagship price tag, the OnePlus 2 is an excellent choice. The OnePlus 2 can be purchased for $349 directly from OnePlus through our Ting shop listing.

We’re also giving away a brand new OnePlus 2 on the Ting YouTube channel. Contest details and links are below – good luck!

Congrats to the lucky winner, Karin S.
