The latest updates from the Ting Team in your town

Network updates, fun events and a fundraiser

Network roll-out

We’d like to take a quick moment to welcome our new neighbors from Barracks-Rugby, where network construction is 70 percent built. Our team has been diligently working to complete parts of Belmont, Martha Jefferson and North Downtown as well. Downtown neighborhoods are still being completed as we receive the necessary permits.

Additionally, we’ve completed the engineering phase for Johnson Village and Redfields. Construction is slated to begin in Johnson Village shortly. And by shortly, we mean this month. We hope to finish construction by the end of the year because that’s when we’re planning to start construction in Redfields.

Johnson Village Fundraiser

Since Ting Internet is coming to Johnson Village soon, we thought the occasion deserved to be kicked off by throwing a celebration for the entire neighborhood. Thursday, September 22 was a beautiful evening for a get-together at Johnson Elementary. There was an ice cream truck serving up cold refreshments and face painting for the kids.

We’re currently holding a fundraiser benefiting Johnson Elementary School in which Ting will donate $100 for each pre-order from Johnson Village. If there are 80 pre-orders from Johnson Village when the fundraiser ends on October 31, we’ll donate $10,000! You can check the progress here if you’re curious; we’ll update the meter at the top of the page each week.

Tomtoberfest was going on while we were in town shooting our new Ting Charlottesville TV commercial. The annual fall event always features incredible live music, local food trucks, and a craft beer garden and this event was no different. As usual, we enjoyed an evening of great conversations with interesting people. We were fortunate enough to get some great footage while we were there, too.

Commercial coming soon

Speaking of which, our commercial shoot went really well. We met up with some old friends and made some new ones along the way. We feel like we captured a great slice of life here in Charlottesville and we’re excited to show it to you. Post production begins in earnest next week and we’ll share as soon as we can.

Halloween Decor Contest

Check out the Halloween Decor Contest going on over at Instructables this month. Ting’s giving away a couple Oculus Rifts as prizes, so submit your decoration how-tos for an opportunity to win!
