In our Charlottesville progress reports, we offer as much information as we possibly can on the fiber network build process. We’ll also talk about Ting events, promotions and some of the work we’re doing in the Charlottesville community. Check back regularly to keep up to date on the latest.
Ting’s bringing even more fiber to Cville
The construction work to bring more of that crazy fast fiber Internet you’re asking for continues in Charlottesville. As discussed in the last Cville progress report, we’re working on several fronts, Redfields, Fontana and Fry’s Spring, expanding the network and laying the groundwork for connecting as many homes as possible.
Redfields and Fontana
We’re currently lighting up customers in Redfields. We’ve completed a number of installations in the neighborhood and we will finish servicing all of the pre-orders by early April. We are super excited to be bringing crazy fast Ting Internet to Redfields.
We’ve had some slight delays in Fontana due to weather and rocky terrain. We’re now projecting installations will begin in April. Check out our progress pics below to see what we’ve been working on.
We’re working on the infrastructure necessary to serve 100 percent of Fry’s Spring. The majority of Fry’s Spring’s network will be aerial. That is to say, look for our teams up on utility poles putting the infrastructure that’s required to bring crazy fast fiber Internet to all of Fry’s Spring. Stay tuned as we will be sharing build plans for the area and setting up a pre-order deadline real soon.
Events and happenings around town
Charlottesville was named as the newest chapter of Creative Mornings, a breakfast lecture series for the creative community, and Ting is proud to be the title sponsor for 2018. The first event was held Friday, March 9 to a sold-out crowd.
We’ve put our support behind some other important community events these last few months, including The Haven’s 8K run and the Virginia Discovery Museum’s Kid*Vention, an annual celebration of science.
We’re also supporting Chalk Charlottesville, a new initiative that celebrates Cville. We attended their Chalkfest event on March 3 where a “Charlottesville ale” was unveiled and tapped. This collaborative brew will be sold at local spots around town with proceeds benefiting Unity Cville.
We have a new Friend of Ting! The Front Porch is a non-profit roots music school based in Charlottesville. Inspired by the rich musical heritage of Central Virginia, the Front Porch seeks to create a strong, vibrant musical community made up of music lovers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Their mission is to make music inclusive, affordable, and accessible to all. Now, teaching artists at the Front Porch will be able to use Ting crazy fast fiber Internet to stream video and audio content for their classes. Their public network will also make all the difference at special events.
We’re now on Instagram! Make sure to follow us and watch our journey throughout Cville. Speaking of social media, Ting hosted a foodie contest on Facebook, treating the winner to $100 at their favorite restaurant. Make sure to follow us so you don’t miss out.
