Welcome to Ting’s progress reports for Fuquay-Varina. In these updates, we’ll offer as much information as we possibly can on the fiber network build process. We’ll also talk about Ting events, promotions and some of the work we’re doing in the Fuquay-Varina community. Check back regularly to keep up to date on the latest.
Since our last update, our crews have been working on construction in Phase 1. Underground conduit installation is complete in Alston Ridge, Village of Sippihaw, Ashford Commons, Woodchase, Brookside and The Oaks.
Now, we’ve started blowing fiber in these neighborhoods. Fiber blowing is a process where we route fiber through the previously placed conduit, often without the need to dig.
It’s actually pretty cool. You can learn more about fiber blowing in the video below.
Construction also started in Buckhaven and Fern Valley last month and soon, we’ll be ready to start blowing fiber there too.
Phase 1 residents will be getting an invite soon by mail to their home. We’re throwing a party for your neighborhood! Pre-orders should expect notice by email too. Come out, meet the Ting team, enjoy activities for the kids and learn more about fiber.
Don’t forget to pre-order
Phase 1 still has some time to pre-order! We’ve moved the deadline to November 30, 2018. When you pre-order Ting gigabit Internet, you get $250 off your startup costs. That covers installation and leaves $50 to go toward your first bill. You’ll also be one of the first to get installed when we’re ready to light up your street.
Next up, Phase 2
We’re excited to announce Phase 2 of construction is officially underway in Fuquay-Varina. Construction started this week. Ting crews are hard at work putting in place all the necessary infrastructure that makes fiber work.
The first three communities in Phase 2 are Woodland Point, Southview Point and Southern Oaks.
Phase 2 residents will be getting an invite soon by mail to their home. We’re throwing a party for your neighborhood! If you’ve pre-ordered, you should expect notice by email too. Come out, meet the Ting team, enjoy activities for the kids and learn more about fiber.
The deadline to pre-order in Phase 2 is November 30, 2018.
What to expect from construction in your neighborhood
Construction work will happen in the city-owned right-of-way, the area on the street side of your home that’s owned by the city and that is reserved for utilities. If you’ve ever noticed a water cap on your lawn, that’s typically around the dividing line between your property and the city’s property.
