A short history of Kodi

The race for fiber: Holly Springs neighborhoods pre-order demand map

There are many factors that go into deciding where we’ll start building a fiber network in a Ting town. Some of these factors (like distance from the “backbone,” space to build a local node, existing construction plans that we can dovetail to quote but a few examples) are outside of an individual or neighborhood’s control.

But one of the biggest factors to take into consideration is within your control.

Building a fiber infrastructure involves a lot of work and initial investment, and because we can’t begin building everywhere at once, we’re looking at pre-orders as “votes” for a particular neighborhood or part of town. So we’ve been asking where you think we should go, and you’ve quickly taken action. You’re even getting your neighbors involved!

We created a map that shows how things are shaping up according to a recent count. Note that the leading neighborhoods are highlighted but stay tuned because that could change in an instant as we continue to tally incoming votes.

How to find 4K content online

4kmedia

4K content is the next level of HD with about four times the resolution of regular 1080p HD content. This makes 4K (also called Ultra High Definition or UHD) content look crisp and clean on ultra-high-res screens. If you want the most vibrant image possible, 4K is what you should be looking for.

Surprisingly, traditional cable TV providers offer very little 4K live content and only a small selection of on-demand content. This leaves viewers in a quandary as to where they can find 4K content.

There’s something unique about Holly Springs…

A couple of weeks back, the video team departed Ting HQ to get on the ground in Holly Springs. We spent a lot of time roaming around town, meeting people, shooting film and trying to get the feeling of the place. We fell in love with Bass Lake. We had to walk away from the The Mason Jar Tavern, with its 1 hour wait. We tried again the next day and arrived a little earlier with better results.

We met Mayor Dick Sears and had a great chat (plus got a signed $10 bill for his Ting crazy fast fiber Internet pre-order.) We got super turned around on your superstreets. We went to the North Main Athletic Complex and shot from the pitcher’s mound. We went to the wonderful Carolina Brewing Company to capture Mark pulling the perfect pint and, well, we couldn’t just leave it sitting there…

We also happened upon the music of local artist John William Carlson whose song Driftin’ on the Open D perfectly captures the feeling we were going for.

It’s a beautiful little town you’ve got here. This is going to work out nicely.
