In our Westminster progress reports, we offer as much information as we possibly can on the fiber network build process. We’ll also talk about Ting events, promotions and some of the work we’re doing in the Westminster community. Check back regularly to keep up to date on the latest.
An update on Phase 3 and Phase 4
In our last update, we announced that Phase 4 construction was underway. We also explained a slight delay in installations for the last few areas of Phase 3. Today, we’ll provide an update for network progress in Phase 4 as well as those areas in Phase 3.
All of Phase 3 can get Ting Internet
The railway permit we mentioned last time came through and we’re excited to announce that every address in Phase 3 can now get Ting Internet.
If you’re on the map above, don’t hesitate to enter your address at ting.com/westminster and order Ting! Our team will reach out soon to book your installation.
Phase 4 construction is underway
The City of Westminster has been hard at work installing backbone infrastructure in Phase 4 and the network expansion is coming along.
Crews are working to lay conduit and handholes, and are pulling fiber underground through conduit. They’ve also started placing fiber drops. A fiber drop is the last connection that gets your home wired directly to the network.
For a full list of fiber networking terms and for a more detailed look on some key infrastructure terms defined, check out our post about fiber networking terms.
If you live in Phase 4, don’t forget to pre-order Ting!
A pre-order is a one-time $9 charge that is refunded to you on your first Ting bill.
When you pre-order Ting gigabit service by the deadline, you get $200 off your start-up costs (including installation and your first bill).
When you pre-order Ting 10/10 service by the deadline you get $50 off your start-up costs (including installation and your first bill).
The deadline to pre-order in Phase 4 is December 31, 2018.
Ting around town
On October 4, The Ting Team was at the Westminster Partners Program, a program that helps people be advocates for Westminster. On October 9, we met with realtors at the Realtor Home Show to demonstrate impact fiber has on home sales. On October 10, we hosted a community party for Phase 4. Residents came out and enjoyed free food and games. The Ting Team loved meeting everyone and answering your questions about fiber. For every person who came to the party, Ting donated $25 to the Carroll Hospital Center Embrace Fund in support of survivors of breast cancer.
On October 19, the Ting Team came out for a dedication ceremony for a new Habitat for Humanity home. Ting was a sponsor of this home and our team was proud to help out with the renovation.
On November 4, Ting sponsored a MAGIC Capture the Flag event, an ethical hacking competition where students compete to find “flags” hidden within computer code. It’s a great introduction to coding for young people interested in working in tech.
Will you be at the Miracle on Main Street Parade? We will! Come out, say hi and celebrate the community and the holidays with the Ting Team.
