Hey Westminster, this post will let you know what Ting Internet has been up to in your community over the past year. We kicked off Phase 3 construction last January and started work in Phase 4 in September. We’re pleased to report that Phase 3 has been officially lit and Phase 4 construction continues.
We’ve also been to a ton of events around town, and have had a blast meeting you all and chatting about crazy fast fiber Internet and what it can do for your homes and businesses. Thanks to everyone who attended the Phase 4 community party in October 2018. Ting donated $25 per person that attended to the Embrace Fund in support of Breast Cancer Month.
Here are some other exciting Ting Internet highlights from 2018.
Did you know the Ting Makerspace has its very own website? It’s a great place to find an interesting tutorial or lesson you’d like to attend. At our workshops, you get to learn how to use some cool Makerspace technology and even take home your creation. Browse our calendar of classes, connect with the community, explore membership and more. We hope to see you at the Makerspace soon!
A fun-filled summer
Ting had a booth at the Flower and Jazz Festival and sponsored free family movie nights at the Carroll Arts Center. We were at the Westminster Farmers Market every second and fourth Saturday well into the fall, plus we hosted a Chamber of Commerce business happy hour for local businesses. Our team also participated in a Habitat for Humanity build and joined in for the Shepherd’s Staff Back to School drive.
40th Annual Westminster Fall Fest
Ting was a presenting sponsor of this year’s Fallfest! Thanks to everyone who came out from September 27 to 30 for special events and entertainment. We had a float in the parade and two Ting booths at the festival. We loved seeing everyone celebrate the community and hope you had a blast.
MAGIC Capture the Flag: ethical hacking competitions
Ting, in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC), sponsored a number of Capture the Flag ethical hacking competitions for local Westminster Youth. Ting staff volunteered by coaching at MAGIC’s CTF 005 in the spring and CTF 006 in the fall. Capture the Flag is an international, entry-level youth ethical hacking challenge where participants used hacking tools to solve puzzles.
Ting TV coming soon
In June, we announced that Ting TV would be launching in Ting Towns across the US. You can sign up for updates and stay in the know about Ting TV while we keep working on developing an awesome TV product, powered by Ting fiber.
