Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Galaxy Note 5

The Galaxy Note series have been the kings of phablet territory ever since the “bigger is better” trend began.

While it’s always been a powerful beast, Samsung has built the latest iteration with style in mind. Thinner and sleeker than last year’s model, the dual-edge glass back makes it a beautiful sight to behold…and actually hold, too.

The Galaxy Note 5 is a premium Android smartphone, both inside and out. With an excellent 16 megapixel camera, 4K smartphone display, 4 GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Note 5 offers the complete package.

Compared to its predecessor, pretty much everything inside the Note 5 has been improved and refined. If you’re a fan of the smartphone stylus, this year’s S Pen clicks like never before. We’ve also found the new “Screen off memo” feature to be super handy – it transforms your display into a chalkboard when the display’s off, great for doodling or quick notes when you’re on the go.

Take a further look at the Note 5 in the Ting shop listing. It’s ready for use on both Ting nationwide network offerings, CDMA and GSM.

Ting is also giving away a brand new Galaxy Note 5 on the Ting YouTube channel. Giveaway details are listed below – good luck.

Congrats to our lucky winners on YouTube and Facebook.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: OnePlus 2

The OnePlus 2 does things on its own terms.

Like its predecessor, it gets ahead of the curve to stand out from the crowd.

Big upgrades like the new USB-C standard charger, fingerprint reader, improved camera and a dual-SIM design have been added to the OnePlus 2. Its 5.5-inch 1080p display with a 1.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor is impressive as well. With 4 GB of RAM, it can multitask like a boss and handle anything you throw its way. Plus, with a massive 3300 mAh battery inside, a full day of heavy use is no sweat for the OnePlus 2.

If you’d like a flagship phone without the flagship price tag, the OnePlus 2 is an excellent choice. The OnePlus 2 can be purchased for $349 directly from OnePlus through our Ting shop listing.

We’re also giving away a brand new OnePlus 2 on the Ting YouTube channel. Contest details and links are below – good luck!

Congrats to the lucky winner, Karin S.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Galaxy J7

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has some impressive tech specs for a mid-range smartphone. Its octa-core processor is powerful enough to perform most smartphone tasks with ease and it includes an excellent 13 megapixel camera that features the same aperture inside the Galaxy S6 and Note 5.

The Galaxy J7’s 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display is nothing to scoff at either. The big, bright screen is perfect for reading eBooks, watching videos and playing games.

The J7 offers a quality smartphone experience while bypassing a few high-end features in order to keep the price tag low. For $277 in the Ting shop (GSM only), it’s a great choice for phablet lovers who are looking for a capable smartphone without breaking the bank.

We’re also giving away a brand new Galaxy J7 on the Ting YouTube channel. Contest details and direct links are listed below – good luck!

Congrats to the lucky winner, Timothy P.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Nexus 6P

The Nexus 6P is the bigger and bolder brother of Google’s latest two smartphones.

This is the first Nexus phone built by Chinese manufacturer Huawei and they’ve done a spectacular job of it. The Nexus 6P is perhaps the first Nexus that can truly be called a premium Android smartphone.

It has a beautiful 5.7-inch AMOLED display with dual front-facing speakers that sits inside a slick aluminum frame. It has a spacious 3450 mAh battery so you’ll never have to worry about your phone lasting a full day. It has an excellent 12 megapixel rear camera that easily holds its own against all other competitors. It has 3 GB RAM to keep your Nexus 6P running smoothly, no matter how many apps you throw in its way. Where previous Nexus manufacturers cut corners in order to lower the price tag, Huawei offers the complete package.

At just $499 for the 32 GB model, the Nexus 6P is possibly the best choice for buyers (in terms of price versus performance) on the market right now. Unlocked and ready for action on both of Ting’s nationwide network offerings, it’s a great choice for those who aren’t fazed by a phablet-sized offering.

The Nexus 6P is available in the Google Store through our Ting shop listing, if you’re interested in taking a look.

We’re also giving away two brand new Nexus 6P’s, one on the Ting Facebook page and one on the Ting YouTube channel. Contest details and direct links are listed below – enter both giveaways to double your chances of winning!

Congrats to our lucky winners, Kathy B on YouTube and Susan R on Facebook.

Ting’s totally inoffensive, non-specific, non-denominational, super inclusive wintertime / holiday themed sales event.

Nexus-5After people picked our virtual shelves bare on Black Friday, we had a meeting. The consensus we reached: People really seem to like great deals on great phones. Duly noted. Let’s do some more of those.

You’ll recognize many of these phones from our Black Friday sale. We weren’t holding back. Quite the opposite. We redoubled our efforts and got a bunch more phones to offer up.

The Ting totally inoffensive, non-specific, non-denominational, super inclusive wintertime / holiday themed sales event starts on Wednesday, December 9 at 12pm ET (noon) and runs until the end of day on December 14 (11:59pm ET).

These phones are perfect for stuffing into oversized novelty socks. Wrapping in colorful paper and putting under a tree that mere weeks ago was minding its own business in a tree farm somewhere. Placing near a Menorah to be opened on one of twelve nights of gift giving (pretty sure that’s how it works). Or whatever your holiday customs, religious observances or traditions may be. This is the totally inoffensive, non-specific, non-denominational, inclusive wintertime / holiday themed sales event, after all.

Bought a GSM SIM card on Black Friday? This update is for you

The Ting GSM activation credits we promised in our Black Friday promotions are coming soon. Just not as soon as we’d like.

During Black Friday, we offered up some great deals on some great phones. We also offered a $50 credit to new customers purchasing a GSM SIM card during the promotion period which started on Black Friday, November 27 and that ended on November 30 at 11:59pm ET). The deal was, activate before December 7, 2015 and we’d apply the $50 credits starting today.

Unfortunately, we’ve hit a bit of a snag. The USPS is a bit slower than usual getting SIM cards out to people. So, to ensure no one misses out because of factors outside of their (or our) control, we’re extending the activation period and pushing the credit issue date a bit, to December 16, 2015, to accommodate.
