#TEAMTING – Katie Houselog

Katie and her husband live in Iowa and are saving $45 a month on their cell phone bill since switching to Ting. Katie was thrilled that she didn’t have to commit to a two year contract or expensive monthly plan just to get her hands on a smartphone.

“I love the fact that I could finally get a “fancy” phone (as my daughter calls it) without paying a fortune.”

For casual users like Katie, Ting rates make it easy to have a low monthly phone bill without having to sacrifice all that a smartphone can offer.

“I text frequently because it’s convenient. I also use my phone to keep the kids busy when we are waiting at games, appointments and activities. Ting allows me to have a smartphone, yet I only have to pay for what I use.”

“I was just telling a co-worker how much my bill was this month ($15.00) and she told me she was jealous. I showed her ting.com and told her she could have a cheap bill too!”

Katie can also take advantage of the Ting Refer a Friend program to get her friend $25 in free service while adding $25 to her own account!

Jason lives in Charlottesville, VA and has been a Ting customer for over two years. Since switching mobile carriers, Jason’s phone bill went from $70 a month to around $20-$25 a month with Ting.

“I went back to grad school a few years ago so money was tight. I started shopping around for a new mobile carrier and like a lot of things, I turned to reddit for answers. A bunch of people told me to check out Ting and it made a lot of sense as a business model, so I went for it!”

I had the pleasure of meeting Jason while helping host a gaming event in Charlottesville a few weeks ago.

At the time I didn’t really care because the price was right, but since then I’ve had excellent customer support and it’s all been done through online chat which is awesome because I hate talking on the phone.”

Jennifer lives in Arkansas and joined Ting over two years ago. She and her family have been saving over $70 a month since taking total control of their cell phone bill.

“Ever since we made the switch to Ting, we use our phones more! Being able to easily tell what our usage is like throughout the month gives us the freedom to use our phones when we need to.”

Jennifer appreciates that with Ting, you don’t have to force yourself to use your phone in order to make your monthly plan worth it.

“Our family of five is always growing and changing. Having a carrier that allows for the flexibility of our growing family is so helpful. We can add devices as the kids get older, add simpler phones for our aging parents to use for emergencies, and always save during the months when we are too busy living our lives rather than living on our phones :)”

Glenn has been a Ting customer for over a year and has two phones on his account: a Nexus 5 and LG Optimus F6. He’s been saving an average of $50 a month since making the switch and couldn’t be happier.

Glenn appreciates that you don’t need an expensive monthly bill just to gain access to a smartphone.

“Before I found Ting we just used flip phones. Ting made it practical for us to enjoy the advantages of having a smartphone.”

A few months ago, Jeff and his wife realized they were overpaying for cell phone service and decided to check out Ting.

“It really came down to price: We were paying $150 for two phones with our previous provider, and Ting brought our bill down to about $40 a month.”

While their previous plan included unlimited texts, unlimited voice calls and 3 GB of data, Jeff and his wife weren’t coming close to that much usage.

“Each month I use less than 100 texts, less than 500 minutes and less than 1 GB of data, so why pay for an unlimited plan when I’m not even using it?”

“I have Wi-Fi at work and home, and I don’t stream a lot when I’m on the go. The only time I use a lot of data is when I’m away at conferences, and the fact that Ting rates give me that option is great.”

Jessica and her husband use two smartphones on Ting and are saving $75 a month since leaving their previous carrier.

We had the chance to chat with Jessica in Charlottesville, VA, who shared why her family has been with Ting since the very beginning.

“My husband Tim is a Linux developer and he’s always on top of the latest and greatest technology. He’s interested in companies that are responsible and up-front with everything, and Ting met those criteria.”

Jessica mentioned that their monthly bill is about half the price it used to be.

“When we first switched to Ting, the only thing we noticed was that our bill was ridiculously cheap. People wouldn’t believe us when I told them we were paying for two smartphones!”
