Introducing the $130 Moto E4 – Available now in the Ting Shop

Unboxing the Moto E4

We like a lot of what Moto has been doing. It’s an opinion based on having tried and tested out more phones from more manufacturers than we care to count. We like the ethos behind Moto E so we were excited to get our hands on the Moto E4.

Budget phones too often come up wanting. While you’re obviously letting go of premium build quality and features in staying under the $150 mark, the Moto E line has always impressed on price vs. performance.

We took the Moto E (2nd gen) for an extended test drive and, even stepping straight down from the flagship Nexus 6P, we were impressed.

The latest Moto E is the Moto E4 and it’s available in the Ting Shop now for $129.

A Month with the Moto G5 Plus

The Moto G5 Plus is the best phone you can get for $300.

There, I said it, and certainly not just because the Moto G5 Plus is available in the Ting shop.

I liked the Moto G5 Plus when I first clapped eyes on the still images. The tech specs, materials and build quality seemed on point (confirmed). Rare but very welcome features like expandable storage were present and accounted for.

Anticipation grew as we learned more about the phone leading up to the launch.

Speaking of which, Moto took a very different approach to launching the Moto G5 Plus; it went to the smaller carriers rather than the big ones. It took the phone to carriers like Ting, who’d appreciate the value proposition rather than big guys who might lament the relatively small price and thin margins.

Unboxing the Moto G5 Plus

We received a Moto G5 Plus in advance of the launch and gave it our unboxing treatment below.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Motorola Moto G4

When it comes to powerful smartphones that won’t clean out your wallet, the latest version of the Motorola Moto G is worth a look. Forget everything you think you know about the Moto G line. The G4 is a whole new ballgame.

The Moto G4 sports a 5.5 inch Full HD display and a capacious 3000 mAh battery that’ll last a full day. It has some capable cameras too, with 13 megapixels in the back and five megapixels up front.

If you’re not a fan of Android skins like Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC’s Sense, the Moto line is perfect for you. The Moto G4 is essentially stock Android; the only preloaded app you’ll get from Motorola teaches you about useful gestures like launching the camera with a twist and turning on the flashlight with a karate chop. Our favorite feature is probably “Flip for do not disturb mode.” No longer will you need to remember to turn on silent mode, just flip your Moto G4 face down and you won’t hear a peep.

If you’re in the market for an affordable smartphone that punches above its weight class, the Motorola Moto G4 is a safe bet. Like to get your hands on one? The Moto G4 is available in the Ting Shop (GSM only). If you’d like to bring a Moto G4 to Ting’s CDMA network, you can do so in the Motorola Store through our Shop listing.

Ting is also giving away a Moto G4 on YouTube and a Moto G4 on Facebook. Entry details are listed below.

Congrats to the lucky winners on YouTube and Facebook.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

The Galaxy S7 Edge is the pinnacle of the Android universe. It truly has it all – an exceptional design, beefy internal specs and top-notch features.

Beautifully built with rounded glass and an aluminum frame, it’s a step up from the S6 and the smoothest smartphone we’ve ever held. The S7 Edge’s compact design makes the Quad HD 5.5-inch display seem much smaller than you’d expect. It’s a phablet, but it doesn’t really feel like it.

With 4 GB of RAM, the latest Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 430 GPU, you get prime performance, no matter how heavy the task. You won’t have to worry about a mid-day recharge either, the Edge’s hefty 3600 mAh battery lasts much longer than you might expect.

It’s also water-resistant in fresh water for 30 minutes up to 1.5 meters, with no need to close your charging port or do any sort of prep beforehand. You can browse Facebook in the shower, take selfies underwater and even put it through a washer (we don’t recommend the last one).

Take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 Edge in our unboxing below and through the Ting Shop listing (CDMA only).

Ting is also giving away a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to a lucky commenter on YouTube. Entry details are listed below.

*Congrats to the lucky winner, Tom W.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is an affordable smartphone that punches way beyond its weight class. It boasts a fully reversible screen (there is no right side up), sizeable battery and 16 GB of internal space plus the option to add removable storage with a microSD card.

The Idol 3 lets you choose your preferred screen size, too. Alcatel has developed a 4.7 inch model and a 5.5 inch model with similar specs, giving you the option to pick the display that fits you (and your hand) best.

If you’d like to learn more about this overachiever, we spent a month with the Idol 3 and shared our thoughts. Both models are also available for purchase in the Ting shop (GSM only).

To celebrate the launch of our unboxing, Ting is giving away two brand new Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3s on the Ting YouTube channel.

Congrats to the lucky winners, Frankie and Shawzy.

Ting Unboxing and a giveaway: Samsung Galaxy S7

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has improved on a tried and true formula to offer its best smartphone yet. Latest updates include a brand new camera, improved Snapdragon system chip, removable storage and a waterproof shell – no charging port cover required.

If you consider a 5 inch display to be the perfect phone size, you’ll love the Galaxy S7. Its 5.1 inch Quad HD display with 576 pixels per inch is fantastic, enclosed in rounded black glass and an aluminum frame that feels as exceptional as it looks.

Running the latest version of Android, 6.0 Marshmallow with a 3,000 mAh battery inside, the Galaxy S7 provides buttery smooth performance that’ll last a full day with ease.

Take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 in our unboxing below and through the Ting shop listing, currently available for purchase on the Ting CDMA (Sprint) network.

Ting is also giving away two brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones! One giveaway is being hosted on the Ting Facebook page while the second is through our friends at Android Police. Learn more and enter to win on the respective pages.
