Hey TPO customers. We’re Ting. Pleased to meet you.
As you will have heard, TPO is closing its North American mobile business. This isn’t quite the intro we’d hoped to have but we’re really glad you’re here. We’ve worked hard with the TPO team to make sure your migration over to Ting is as smooth and seamless as possible. Your phone number and TPO balance are safe on Ting. We’re also offering $50 in Ting credit to get you started.
Your phone number is yours. If you don’t want to use Ting, you need to make arrangements to move your number to a new carrier within 30 days of the first email TPO sent today, November 27, announcing the shutdown
With that said, we’re happy you’re here and we’re excited for you to see what smarter mobile can do and how much you can save with Ting.
The short version
If you landed on this page and prefer a condensed version, here are the main takeaways.
- On Ting, it’s likely you’ll save even more than you did with TPO.
- We’re giving you your existing TPO balance, prorated based on how far along you are in your billing cycle. Plus, get an extra $50 in Ting credit (that’s $25/mo for two months).
- Ting is a postpaid service. You don’t buy minutes, messages and mobile data in advance. Instead, at the end of the month, you pay for what you actually used.
- Ting gets even better when you connect to Wi-Fi at home and work.
- For everyone that moves to Ting, we’re donating $10 to Planet Water Foundation.
- You can start your move on our the dedicated landing page tpo.ting.com.
- To keep your phone number, you must either complete the move to Ting or port your number away in the next 30 days.
So, what’s Ting?
Ting is a top-rated mobile provider. We’ve been around for over six years and we’re not going away. We’re a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) like TPO. MVNOs are good news for customers because they encourage mobile industry competition and offer more affordable options than the big guys.
For instance, the average bill on Ting is just $23 per phone, per month. We’re pretty proud of that number. It means more people on Ting are saving money on their cell phone bills, which means more money for other things.
On Ting, it’s likely you’ll save even more than you did with TPO.
Ting gives you the tools as well as the tips and tricks to save even more. Ting is contract free with pay for what you use pricing. That means you only pay for what you actually used at the end of the month. What’s more, when you add lines to your Ting account, you save even more. Ting is a great option for families and groups.
Ting has a helpful dashboard app you can download for any Android or iOS device. You can track your usage, set caps on how much you want to use and set up alerts so you get notified when you approach your limit.
Ting offers service on two nationwide LTE networks so you’re always covered. You’ll get the same or better coverage as you did with TPO.
Our customer support team is friendly, knowledgeable and available over chat, email and on the phone with no holds and no phone trees. We also have a Help Center where you can find answers to common questions about Ting.
We offer awesome deals on the latest phones and have a referral program that lets you score credit off your bill when you send your friends and family to Ting.
Only pay for what you use
Every month, use your phone however you need to and at the end of the month, settle up at a fair price for what you used. Every month can be different or every month can be the same depending on your usage. See our rates page for more details. Ting rates are postpaid, not prepaid like TPO. So you’re only actually paying for what you use.
If we can offer one quick tip to save even more with Ting, it’s to use Wi-Fi to avoid paying for mobile data. Chances are good you have Wi-Fi at home, work or school. Connect to that Wi-Fi on your phone to limit mobile data use and you’ll see how good Ting can get.
Your move to Ting
We hope you’re pleasantly surprised when you make the switch. You should have received an email by now from TPO with more information about how to get started.
You can get started on our the dedicated landing page tpo.ting.com. Remember, we’ll prorate your remaining balance and pass along an extra $50 in Ting credit (that’s $25/mo for two months) when you make the switch.
If you choose not to move your account by Ting, you’ll have to port your number to another provider by December 27, 2018. If you miss the date, you’ll risk losing your number.
In the spirit of TPO
To honor TPO’s charitable legacy, Ting will donate $10 to Planet Water Foundation for every account that moves to Ting. We chose Planet Water Foundation because it’s been one of the most popular charities among TPO customers.
