Family mobile phones with entry-level, mid-range and high-end models

Family mobile phones

Something for everyone and every budget

Quinn and Jo are the parents of two kids, a ten-year-old and a fourteen-year-old. They’re looking for new family mobile phones.

Quinn is the tech savvier parent of the two. Jo is mostly comfortable with Mac products and likes tech that is easy to use and intuitive. Quinn likes to game, try out new apps and prefers a degree of customization. They both use their phones for taking pictures, work and personal email as well as keeping in touch with family.

Quinn and Jo want their ten-year-old kid to have a phone for occasional and emergency calling only. That means no texting, Internet or games.

They want to get their tween their first smartphone. Something for calling and texting family and friends, playing some games, surfing the web and using social media. Quinn and Jo want to be able to curb data use, set limits and ensure their tween isn’t using a ton of mobile data. They want their tween to learn responsible ownership and usage.

Let’s see some examples of family mobile phones they could get on a budget, some midrange models, and if they wanted to splurge, some amazing flagship phones as well.

The Elliott family saves more with Ting

#TEAMTING

Showcasing some of our favorite Ting customer stories, whether from an individual, a family, a tech-head or a retiree.

John Elliott lives with his wife and son in Ohio. They currently save $110 a month on their two smartphones with Ting.

“The value is incredible but even more than that I appreciate the flexibility of the service. Before Ting, the only real option for truly flexible service was to have unlimited data, voice, and text which either required paying a high cost or sacrificing quality. Ting requires neither. Most months, my wife and I are pretty minimal in our data usage but should the need arise, it’s nice to be able to use our phones as we need and know that the rates we’re paying for that use is fair.”

A Pokémon Go retrospective: how an augmented reality game changed everything

We’re coming up the one year anniversary of the launch of Pokémon Go. To say it was an international phenomenon feels trite, but here goes: Pokémon Go was everywhere last summer. You couldn’t leave your house without crossing paths with a ton of trainers of all ages playing the augmented reality game. Whether it was a group of kids on their scooters or a mom casually catching Drowzees while walking the dog, everybody was trying to catch them all.

augmented reality For those of you who weren’t hopelessly addicted to Pokémon Go last summer, let’s review. Pokémon Go is a location-based, augmented reality mobile game. Go lets users create trainer profiles and go out into the world to find and catch Pokémon that appear onscreen as if they are exactly where you are.
