Happy New Year, Charlottesville! We’re excited to kick off the year because we have a lot to look forward to in 2020. Ting Charlottesville’s biggest challenge and opportunity of 2019 was building fast enough to satisfy overwhelming customer demand, and we look forward to everything this year has to offer and meeting those needs.
In the spirit of new year goal setting and planning, we thought we would also take a quick look back at what we were able to accomplish in 2019.
Our team continued efforts to bring Ting’s fiber Internet to residents and businesses in and around Charlottesville. We began construction in Greenbrier and expanded our network throughout Johnson Village, Belmont, Fry’s Springs, Martha Jefferson and Woolen Mills neighborhoods and even became the singular provider in the Belvedere community.
In early 2019, we continued our awesome partnership with UVA Athletics by offering Ting Wi-Fi at John Paul Jones. A lot of people worked on this project and we’re all so happy that everyone will now get to enjoy our crazy fast fiber Internet™ at the arena.
For the second year, Ting Charlottesville was nominated for Business of the Year at the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council Gala! We truly feel grateful and proud to be a part of this community and we can’t wait for more opportunities to work with you this year.
Ting Charlottesville strives to connect with our community and in May, we partnered with the Love No Ego Foundation to support and educate local children about social media.
Last June, we were proud to represent Ting Charlottesville and our newly launched Realtor Program at the Fiber Connect conference in Florida. Speaking at the conference gave us the opportunity to share why Ting Charlottesville is a leader in the local Internet Service Provider space!
Also during the summer, Ting partnered with Computers 4 Kids and hosted a tech drive during which Ting customers and the local community donated new tech items to help students prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. All of these items were then re-distributed at Charlottesville’s Back to School Bash.
Last November, we supported our local Chamber of Commerce as a Platinum Sponsor of the Chamber’s Annual Dinner. Our local team also gave back during the holiday season by volunteering at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, packing boxes for their Senior Food Box program. In addition, we donated $25 for every Ting order made between Thanksgiving and New Year’s to the food bank to help support our local community facing food insecurity.
As Ting Charlottesville approaches our five-year anniversary, our local team continues to learn, grow, support the community and provide best-in-class service! Our team is stronger than ever, and moving into 2020 we hope to build upon our success and find ways to connect with you even more.
Wishing you a great 2020,
City Manager, Charlottesville Team
