Ting Park and Wi-Fi: sharing access to drive-up Internet hotspots in your community

This is a special update for the Charlottesville community. Our usual community updates will resume once we’re through this unprecedented COVID-19 situation.

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest.

Internet access is an essential service. The COVID-19 pandemic that we’re all weathering has made that abundantly clear.

As mentioned in our Ting Internet COVID-19 update and in the broader Tucows COVID-19 statement, the health and safety of our team, our customers and the community at large are our top priority. For this reason, we have suspended all Ting Internet indoor installations, here and elsewhere. We will reschedule installations as soon as it is safe to do so.

In the interim, Ting Internet is working hard to ensure everyone has at least some access to the Internet. Our team has been working with the community to create drive-up free Internet access points in Charlottesville.

The first Ting Internet Charlottesville “Park and Wi-Fi” spot is:

IX Park

Wi-Fi access will be available between 7:00am – 8:00pm seven days a week.

Please stay in your vehicles, minimize social interaction, maintain social distancing protocols and adhere to the suggestions made by your health officials.

Bring your laptops, tablets and phones and do what you need to do online. Teleconference from the car, check in on friends and family, or grab some online education resources to keep the kids going.

In a further effort to support the Charlottesville community, Ting Internet is dividing a $1650 donation among three amazing local organizations—the PB&J Fund, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Feeding the Frontline initiative—to help those who need access to food supplies at this time.

To help support our local small business community, we’ve purchased gift cards from local businesses and will be giving them away on social media to help spread a little joy during this trying time. These gift cards can be used when ordering delivery or pickup or can be saved for later use. Check out our Ting Charlottesville Facebook page to see how you can participate.

Make sure you visit our social media channels for the most up to date information. Help us spread some positivity on our Ting Charlottesville Facebook page and be eligible to win one year free streaming of your choice (Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, etc.)!

Again, we encourage everyone to stay home, maintain social distancing and stay safe. We’ll get through this together.

Stay well,
Kara Chandeysson
